The Oceanaire, Denver, Colorado
Restaurant Review, February 23, 2008
Last night the still cool seniors staff reviewed The Oceanaire Restaurant in downtown Denver. It was the first night of Denver Restaurant Week so downtown was jumping and The Oceanaire was booked solid.
The restaurant occupies a terrific location close to the Performing Arts Center, the Convention Center and the new Four Seasons Hotel underconstruction across the street. There is limited street parking but valet service is available and numerous parking garages closeby.
The restaurant has a terrific design, I'd call Art Deco/1950's Cruise Ship, Oceanliner. The food was excellent. We had the salmon, mahi-mahi and also stuffed, Rainbow Trout. The service time was slow but this was probably attributed to the booked solid reservations.
We also had oysters on the half shell. I have never seen a menu before that included eight different kinds of oysters from different locales. They were fresh and delicious.
This restaurant is very popular and rightfully so. As we were exiting, Jon Favreau (The Break-up, Something's Gotta Give, Open Season, "Dinner for Five") was entering. Don't worry, no invasion of privacy occurred. He didn't ask us to sign anything and did not request any pictures to be taken with him.

Steuben's has sort of an art-deco 1950's vibe and serves wonderful, comfort food. Checkout these menu items:
macaroni & cheese
fried chicken
skirt steak
vegetarian chili relleno
cayenne etouffee
spaghetti & meatballs
memphis bbq baby back ribs
plus lots of other goodies, for an appetizer, try the sliders
Book Review
Power Play
by Joseph Finder
Here is a fascinating story that takes place about three hundred miles north of Vancouver in British Columbia. It was suppose to be a retreat with little or no connection to the rest of the world. Trouble starts when the corporate big shots are taken hostage by a band of backwoods hunters. A not-so big shot steps up and well................you'll have to read this excellent story to find out.
Joseph Finder paints a very detailed picture with plenty of twists and turns. You'll love it.
Rating: 5 pairs of sunglasses. The coolest.
Requiem for an Assassin
by Barry Eisler
Sure John Rain is an Assassin. But he kills the guys you and I would like to kill. Barry Eisler takes you on a fast paced trip and very detailed trip to lots of exotic locations. John Rain knows his martial arts and as with all of Barry's novels, I finish by going to the mirror and checking for bruises.
Rating: 5 pairs of sunglasses, the coolest.

Restaurant Review-Casey's Bistro and Pub
Last night the staff from Still Cool Seniors ate at Casey's Bistro and Pub located in the Stapleton area in Denver.

We found a friendly, boisterous crowd enjoying the delicious fare and drinks. The Guiness was cold and the food delicious. We tried the Rueben sandwich, the fisherman pie, the Boxty (stuffed potato pancake) and the Cod Fish & Chips. All received rave reviews. View the video below to see us in action.
